GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION PORTFOLIO

14 page portfolio showcasing my best works

One of my aspirations is to become an urban designer. With grad applications being due January 2020, I submitted my humble portfolio showcasing around 7-8 different projects on urban design, social media, merchandise design, and graphic design (of course!). When I began this process, I started off by sketching what I wanted for the cover image as this is my audience's first impression. I wanted it to go along with a theme inspired by the intersections between nature and man-made forms. I gathered multiple images of figures that would match that theme and created an orderly collage with these contrasting elements. Green tinted images are from nature, as the sepia/black and white tone images represent man-made things. As for the content, I utilized an internal grid system to ensure that everything is legible and uniformly formatted. Mockups were also used to effectively show certain social media and merchandise designs as if the audience were to see it in its final form. Layout varies per page as well to tailor to each project and give excitement as you turn the page. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my end result, which I believe shows my design sense and personality well. Hoping to hear good results! Programs: Photoshop + InDesign. Completed in January 2021.
